From Magnum. This is pretty good: nice acid spine, slight waxiness, though not unpleasant or dominating. Pit fruit wallpaper. Not exciting. If I'm going hold a bottle for 10-12 years, I'd prefer the Ponsot Monts Luisants I opened last week, which was both really good and quite interesting; also about half the price.

From magnum. Beautiful, crystalline acidity, very lithe and light on its feet for 14%. Not much fruit, with time, some wax and a bit of breadth. Fruit doesn't really come out, but I suspect it's because the wine is shut down; it could hardly be past maturity with such fresh, vital acidity. Another five years? Ten?

Opened up from the cellar. Poured into decanter to open. Tasted cold at cellar temperature. What happened to the tropical fruit i'm looking for? The color is a medium golden with rose hints. Did I miss the boat on this one? It seems to be heading down hill! I am not a happy camper. EG WineArchitect #WhiteRhone

TASTE: lots of typical Rhone minerals; hint of cigar wrapper; 14% alc. not noticeable; open; there was something about this that I can’t quite put my finger on that made me feel it was just a little off.

I was surprised and impressed by this off vintage. Rich pear fruit mixed with banana on a waxy frame with chalk notes, but great acidity on the finish. This does not taste shut down or oxidized, but did open up after some time in the glass, so a decant is recommended.
