BYOB dinner NOTK (Supernova hotel, Rotterdam): [Tasted blind] Almost dark gold in color, so I was afraid it was gone, but although probably past its peak still very good and interesting. Sherry notes, white port, marmelade, honey, apple syrup. Good acidity, long finish. Still two left in the cellar, shouldn’t wait too long

Similar reaction to a week ago. When people say " its not bad , its interesting" this sums it all up. Truth is impossible to enjoy post the fresh state. Shame really.

Tried everything post first taste , long decant, cooler, warmer. Unless one is a lover of this bitter feel of rhone whites this becomes an impossible wine to drink. Btw it was bright and glossy so none of that malarkey that they close and then come back out once the colour becomes bright again that the rhone winemakers try to sell. We feel ( we also think the natural wine scene borrowed this from them too) that the spin from the winemakers like Chapoutier and the Perrins that this is great and it evolves it’s just a ploy and that these are just wines with limited evolution power in the sense that they change into something impossible once the freshness goes . If indeed they love them we can give them back ours… pointless to rate

The moment that your theory that the bulk of Rhone whites dnt age the way you like them proves true.. Bitter and charmless on open so we decided to let it rest for a day and revisit. Drink them young , drink the fresh especially the chapoutier stuff..

Dark gold color, distinctive nutty nose, mid weight to mid weight plus silky mouth feel. Strong nut flavors (pecan, walnut?), including the bitter aspect, hints of orange/orange blossom. Overall profile was interesting and somewhat unusual. I didn't dislike it, but not my favorite.
