  • 70% Pinot Meuinier, 30% Chardonnay.
Bottle aged for 9 years after purchase.
    APPEARANCE: Medium gold colour.
NOSE: Initially very fruity, with lots of fresh, sweet yellow apples. With temperature and time in the glass more oxidative and autolytic notes appear alongside the fruit, with brioche, some yeast, a slight balsamic note and hints of soy sauce. All very nicely integrated. (90p)
TASTE: The arrival is surprisingly rich, with a lot of deep and mature fruitiness. This is obviously, at least partially, a blanc de noir Champagne. On the mid palate yellow fresh and bruised apples, sweet/ripe lemon acidity and quite a bit of minerality. The exit is almost sweet, again with the emphasis on sweet yellow apples. The aftertaste is quite long, with the taste of sweet yellow apple flesh gradually transitioning into yellow apple core, i.e. a slight bitterness. (89-90p)
This 9 year old N.V. Champagne, while being mature still has a lot of fruitiness and vitality. Very “pure” and focused, precise and charming all at the same time.
    TOTAL SCORE 90 points.

  • A private lunch (Restaurant l'Ami Jac, Utrecht, NL): Finely wrought, beautifully balanced, energetic, seamless, lovely marriage of fruit and maturity, good depth of flavour and length.
