This was the last bottle of 6 that I have drunk over the last few years. It is definitely ready to drink and seemed to be lighter than previously. Colour is a nice ruby red, slight bricking at the rim. Typical Burgundian nose of red and dark fruits, some tangy acidity and soft, earthy, charry oak characters. The palate is medium bodied (for Burgundy) but a bit light for a GC. Red fruit flavours dominate with soft acid, smoky, earthy characters and a touch of spice. It is a very nice wine but just lacks a bit of impact and intensity. I think drink soon as it seems to be fully mature.

On the nose there’s a shot of espresso, some blood plum and iron. It is a strong, muscular wine befitting of the village. It has reasonable flesh and finishes with savoury grip. Starting to drink well but plenty left in the tank.

Really youthful and almost impenetrable. There’s a faint whiff of cedar, dried earth and cherry. It its core is a sweet heart of black cherry and blood plum fruit. It is broad shouldered, chunky and quite muscular. Quite pleasant now but in need of another 5-10 years.

Slightly disappointed with this one, had the 1999 a few years back and that was spectacular. This one was good but lacked the balance of the '99. Still some oak piercing through this one, some hard edges and a slight leaning towards the modern style of pinot. A bit too fruit forward and lacked some of the nuances of the 99. Maybe this is still too young but it was still a good wine, just not as good as the '99.

An earthy, savoury nose. There are red and black fruits overlaying a chalky base. It is mid-weight Clos de Vougeot that is nicely balanced.
