Very attractive with duck and roast chicken. Surprisingly sweet and fruity nose, mouth full of earthy mineral red fruit. Showing age, in a great place. Short finish and lacking deep complexity hold this back. Still shows how good ‘93 was in Burgundy.

Burgundy WIMPs (La Trompette, Chiswick): Very deep garnet. Nose is perhaps a touch reticent but shows iron, earth underlying dark fruit, mushroom. Medium/full bodied, quite rich dark fruit, iron, earth, attractive fresh acidity, some slightly firm tannin on a goodish length finish. Old-fashioned, very good indeed ***1/2

Hint of TCA on the nose and initial palate. Really strong on the nose, lilacs, red cherry. The nose just goes on and on, and is so smooth and perfume-like. Still some fine tannins, and some nice acidity.
With about an hour in the glass, this is singing. No more hint of TCA. Really lovely raspberry, fresh loam, and flowers on the nose. Lovely on the palate. Still some firm tannins, suggesting this can go for a while yet (I only have one bottle left!). Some nice savory cherry flavors, sous bois, and other nice savory flavors. A pretty nice finish, with only a hint of bitterness.

This was so good! Took about 20 mins for the funk to blow off the nose and about 2 hours for the beautiful fruit to show up. Still very youthful.
