Darker than the Girardin Vignes Franches, richer also with ripe attack, this had stunning dark fruit, soft tannins, dark spice notes, cherry puree, perfect 1er cru stature, very nice, if not as elegant as the Girardin or as silky and pedigreed as the de Montille. Located in Premeaux at the far south end of the NSG AOC, the richer soils do indeed impart a darker, richer style. Still had another 5-10 years ahead of it as did the other Burgs. Pleasantly surprised. At Blair's, EWG 2002 retrospective.

I've had this bottling on three occasions, and this was the first time the wine aromatics were alive and the structure felt balanced on my palate. dark red Nuits fruit, somewhat reminiscent of Vosne.

This was a high acidity wine that pairs well with rich foods. It had a highly volatile aromatic with bright red fruit and just a little sandalwood. The tannins were seamless and it finished very clean.

Tasted blind. Telltale nose of a Cote de Nuits. Grassy, some violets, purple fruit. Very fine tannins on the palate. Elegant and enjoyable now, and for the next 5 years. A pleasant surprise that this is a Bouchard.

16th Annual Lyon 10 Year Retrospective (Same Old Place): Very mature/ evolved. Lean red fruit and minerals w/ a hint of forest floor / duff. All acid the next day.
