Age appropriate dark color for its level and age. At first I feared oxidation, but the aromas are ripe and baked apple with some honey and caramelized notes. Good density for its level, and this retained its moderate freshness for the several hours it was open.

A beautiful nose with honey, toasted tropical fruit, and pear. The palate had a lot of weight. The honey on the palate was a nice and pleasant surprise. It is drinking so well now. This is the first comte lafon that I thoroughly enjoyed. The fruit and acidity were still there to keep for several more years. I would rate it higher if the palate was more complex. My suggestion is to consume now and enjoy it.

2012 - Lunch and Hi-Tea: Alcohol :: 13.5% Opened for 3.5hrs. Medium golden. Very pure and airy on the nose, almost Champagne like: honey, toasted nut, red apple, lemon, pear, yellow flower and huge mineral background. Equally pure on the palate with good concentration of sweet pure yellow fruits, hazelnut, refreshing minerality and a touch salinity and coffee that wrapped in a powerful package and leads to the very spicy medium length, smooth finish. Excellent in whole with good density but perhaps smaller in scale.

Striking oxidative nose. Light gold color. Bruised apples on the nose. Some honey. Feels like Hermitage.

The Great Comtes Lafon, A fine wine tutured tasting with Jasper Morris MW (Berry Bros & Rudd, London): Within the Plures Vineyard.
Blight glossy light honey colour. Complex nose, honey, mint and has an “age” to it. Round, lush, fat wine with lots of weight. Put a smile on our faces . Better with food. 91-92. Drink now
