Wine Tasting Group - No Theme - July 15, 2018 (Home): Golden yellow. Opened for 1 hr and cooled in ice bucket. Petrol, ripe apples, pineapples, herbs and minerals. Not flabby but definitely didn't have the laser-like focus and cut on the palate. Odd, since 2008 is supposed to be a high acid vintage from what I've read.

Very good. Nice level of sweetness / acid balance. Green apple, a little clove-like spice. Very finish with some mineral and kiwi. Very good with coconut-curry soup (as was intended), but a downside was that it got flabby and boring after a couple hours. Food wine, not session wine.

German rieslings: Smooth and mild, fresh nose of young desert wine and zephyr. Palate was very intense, even pungent. Finish a bit watery. Light and flowing.

Strong nose of petrol, little white fruit, smells like a dry riesling... taste is very light (sugar, fruit, acidity), but quite elegant... at second glass, the sugar dissapears for a strong minerality... would fit great with scallops!!

(BERN-BAD Spatlese JJ PRUM) 2008 JJ Prum Spatlese Dear Friends, We've offered a lot of Riesling lately but this is our only chance at Prum's 2008 Spatlesen at this price level. In 2008, this cadre of Spètlese may as well be Prum's Auslesen. The vintage had its home with Kabinett and Spatlese and Manfred Prum was not about to let a classic (even magical) Spètlese vintage escape him. In recent years the US market has focused mainly on two JJ Prum wines at this pradikat level (Wehlener and Graacher) but, in 2008, the epicenter was so obvious to Manfred Prum that he felt a need to resuscitate his emphasis on two other vineyards that were far more prevalent at this house during the 1980's and 1990's (Bernkasteler Badstube and Zeltinger-Sonnenuhr). While everyone will chases the Wehlener due its history and relative fame among Riesling aficionados and historians, do not ignore the other three. In 2008, you will find a windfall of riches at the Spètlese level and (as it usually is) JJ Prum finds itself among the very best wines of the vintage. If you have any interest in this parcel, please let us know at your earliest convenience: 2008 JJ Prum Bernkasteler Badstube Riesling Spètlese 2008 JJ Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spètlese 2008 JJ Prum Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Spètlese 2008 JJ Prum Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Spètlese Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Germ3486 Germ3487 Germ3488 Germ3489
