Rich straw color. Nose of citrus and apples. Rich crisp apple, honeysuckle and buttered river stones. Can't tell if this was stainless or oaked...gives some notion to both. Finishes clean.

Cristom, St. Innocent, Johan Vineyards (Eola-Amity/Willamette Valley, OR): Some oak funk on the nose, nice soft flavors. Very creamy on the palate, with strange little bubbles full of daggers that are a little harsh, with this weird, rocky, chunky texture that isn't very pleasing. More spice and oak flavors on the finish.

A very reasonable Willamette Valley chardonnay enjoyed recently at the February tasting of the Hickory Wine Club, one of the four initial obligatory whites before hitting the reds. Yellowish green, clear, balanced oak and butter with hints of melon and orange. Semi-sweet nose of burnt sugar, caramel and red apple.

Rich cream on the nose. Needed to be chilled down. Little bit of complexity. Can't say I have been a fan of the Cristom chardonnays.

This was pretty good in my humble opinion... a little too much wood, but overall a nice wine that tasted good with food.
