This wine still has a more youthful appearance relative to its 16 years of age. This bottle is drinking well now.
A medium-bodied wine with only a little bit of rusticity on the finish. Nice acid fruit balance on this Savigny 1er with a pleasant but tangy finish. Earthy with a red fruit profile. Not heavy or dark-fruited at all. This 2006 Red burgundy has turned out well and is likely at its peak drinking now but will hold for a least 3-5 years in my estimation. An excellent price to quality ratio at maturity. Score 91+

1 glass coravined. Pale/medium ruby/garnet core, pale garnet rim. Nose shows dark fruit, earth, touch of florals. Medium/full bodied, black cherry fruit, touch of blackcurrant, earth, touch of liquorice, tannins are fine but still present, fresh acidity, good depth and excellent length here, this is excellent and with plenty of time in hand too. Now to at least 2025.
Finished 19/12 - consistent.

Showed some masculine, brawny structure out of the gate. Some heat to the finish, too. Not very Savigny at first. With air, more sappy red fruit emerges. Big-ish wine. Could use some time. Good wine, albeit somewhat unremarkable now.

Bright cherry hue. Light and airy, some sappy cinnamon stick notes, tilled stony earth and spice along with light fruit tones of tart cherry, cranberry and citrus pith. Some minerality. Rather simple but balanced and transparent.
