The nose had faded some. This wine lacked some of the great fruit Viognier can provide. Maybe because of age it is in a transition. Reminded me more of a Condrieu than a Central Coast Viognier.

WOW! What a nose. It was amazing, just the aromas you want in a great viognier. Very floral and insane fruit. I enjoyed inhaling the wine every bit as much as tasting it. Good acidity balanced by the stone fruits and minerality. Not as concentrated as the Alban Vineyard, but that is a good thing because this wine was much more food friendly and not as bitter. Wine had great body and long finish to boot. Slight protein haze, but that is due to the fact that the wine is unfined and unfiltered. The flavors and aromas overcome the appearance.

Absolutely wildly hedonistic juice. There's a little bit of everything in its constantly evolving nose...nuts, minerals, stone fruit, flowers. The slight effervescence in the glass just adds to its racyness. Super mouth-coating viscosity and a long honeydew melon finish make this the most memorable wine so far of 2011 (written 1/1/11).
