  • Present of RDM. Astonishing how present from
the first second (no decant). would never ever guess a 2001 vintage. very approachable and still young fruity. not a lot of tertiary aromas. great acidity (maybe for some people too high but for me just ideal) and tannin structure is well dismantled over the past two decades. awesome stuff for this price and will be still drinkable in the next 3-5 years. buy it!

  • Wow, this was surprisingly good. even though this wine has more than 20 years of bottle age it had still sooo much fruit, tannins and tension. tasted blindly, I'd guessed it not more than 10 years old. another example of the very good 01 vintage in chianti.

still I had the impression the acidity on this one was on the lower end. but i have to admit that I love wines with (very) high acidity.

price-perfomance ratio VERY high on this one. buy.

can still be held for another 5y+ at least and did not yet reach its peak imo.

would profit from a quick decant. but not strictly necessary.

  • Nearly nine years since my first bottle of this and I am glad I waited this long. This wine is just approaching prime time. Beautiful deep crimson colour, no brick. Beautiful dark red fruit notes, blackberry, raspberry and touch of blueberry with herb notes, iodine and earthy notes in the background. No secondary notes anywhere. The palate still has some tannins, but they are ripe and in balance with fruit intensity which is in balance with the acidity. Moderately long finish. I have one bottle left and here is the dilemma; do I drink it now since it is so enjoyable or do I see how it develops.

  • Not a bad color for a wine nearly 20 years old. Still opaque, violet, touch of brick on the edge. Dried herbs, mint, boiled sweets, black berries. Juicy, sweet, ripe fruit, roasted meat, black berries, cherry. Still has a bit of tannin, good acidity to balance the ripeness of the fruit. Fairly complex. Medium length. Could probably go on for a few more years without too much trouble, but very nice now, especially if you value fruit. Excellent.

  • Wow. Drinking beautifully. Still more full bodied than you'd expect, with that nice level of acidity and smooth grip of tannins.
