I surprisingly enjoyed this wine. It was slightly corked, but bright acidity (even after 16 years) highlighted streaks of red fruit and an almost Cab Franc-like green note. Tannin intervened a little bit, but age had rounded it out and it seemed well integrated. Rating is low for CT, but honest. Don't let it stop you from trying this American classic of a wine. It's a bottle of history.

My first Norton in 38 years, and I'm very pleased. Beautiful dark beet red color with no edges; based on color alone it didi not look like a 14 year old wine. Great fruit nose, ripe blue and black fruits. Nice mouth feel, smooth dark fruit flavors, good acid backbone, smooth tannins; decent length but no particular complexity. Good wine to accompany grilled dry ribs. Got better with air. True to its reputation, aged Nortons are delicious wines, the key is finding wineries who make them well in the first place and who also age them in the cellar before release.

Drank as part of a 2000-2009 vertical. Dark plum color. Still with bramble fruits on the nose. Smooth with nice long finish. This is holding up much longer than expected.

Intense red currant, slight brick color, with steak and grilled sweet potatoes. Very fine. If only all Nortons were aged this long.
