  • It surprised me that this is not premoxed. Classic Batard that is at peak.

  • Seems at peak drinking. Showing very well, nose and mouth of caramel, pineapple; quite rich/unctuous/long. Seems like it lacks the acidity to age much further. Friends have told me that they have had a lot of problems with premox (but I was lucky with 3/3 bottles of this being good). As a matter of taste, I find the flavor components coming from oak -- while perfectly integrated -- too much a part of this wine's character; to be clear, I don't mean that it tastes oaky, but that the caramel/pineapple strike me as being oak rather than the terroir.

  • On nose butter caramel and homemade caramel pudding. Delicious smell.

In the mouth good balance, but could have had a little more acid and more freshness. Much nuts in the aftertaste. Oak.

    50 + 5 + 13 + 15 + 6 (7) = 89-90p.

Other wines in this flight, all tasted blind:
    Louis Carillon Puligny-Montrachet 02 (87p)
Domaine Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc 02 (90p)
    Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatieres 02 (94,5p)

  • Tasted blind. Of the four whites tasted blind(Leflaive BB'02, Carillion Puligny '02, Leflaive Folatieres'02 and this), this is the darker and most developed wine. Dark golden color, but crystal clear. Nose strikes me immediately with tons of homemade caramel sauce. This is stunning! The nose is perhaps a bit one way, with nothing else than the caramel in there, but still a delight to smell and I am very comfortable sniffing this one for an hour or two. Palate is full, heavy, serious and with fresh acidity. Very good! This is obviously a heavyweight contender.

  • Drank at Bob Bob Richards
Similar to the last bottle I had, wonderful stuff but the LeFlaive's are better.
