This wine is big and velvety and inky dark, but otherwise not showing a lot of aged/tertiary notes. Bright with red fruits and spices and beautiful tannins. The bright acidity with the rustic tannins and baking spices seems like a unique combination. Texture is rich and the finish is never ending. In another five years, this should be amazing.

This is an interesting wine. At 12 years of age it is still inky black and shows no signs of bricking. A fairly subtle, understated bouquet of doc cherries, and underbrush. Still fairly Tanic and structured, it is more intellectual than hedonist. Interestingly, not any sense that this is not vitis vinifera; I would probably guess Cabernet Sauvignon were I tasting this blind. Some may find this wine a little unyielding and austere, but that is where it's attraction is!

(Chrysalis Norton Locksley Reserve) Chrysalis Vineyards’ flagship wine is deeply colored, robust, and full-bodied. Rustic and spicy, it can easily stand up to meats and full-flavored dishes. Meet Virginia
