Intense bouquet with red and dark berries, herbs and spices and luxurious oak. On the palate cherries, red and dark berries, some menthol and pepper, juicy acidity, mild tannin and a good length. Overall a beautiful wine in its maturity stage. No real hurry.

color deep red; boldly expressive nose, blueberry & dried cherry, a good bit of saddle leather, sweaty; med-full bodied, shows alcohol in its weight; very ripe, dried black cherry, black soil, charcoal; new world in style but enough funk to remain interesting till the end.
pecan-smoked ribs; the year's last corn on the cob; baked yelloweye beans

Deep red but clear colour. Dark fruit, liquorice and leather on nose. Smooth and velvety in the mouth. Dark fruit, tapenade and leather flavours. Long finish. Very enjoyable and still with life left in it.

An impressive wine and now the perfect time to open after 10 years of cellering. Despite its 14.5% alcohol a very soft and elegant Syrah. The fruity / cherry character of this grape combines with the typical ‘leather’ kind of taste of older wines. We drank it with a ‘sous vide’ prepared black angus Ribeye from the kamado, which makes a perfect marriage. Outstanding.

DDM Proeverij ZAF Shiaz vs oude wereld Syrah; 3/21/2023-3/22/2023: Baksteen rood, hele grote zware fles. In de neus zwarte kers, zwoel, beetje mint, zelfs een vleug rijpe banaan. In de mond heel mooi rijp kersenfruit, mocca, chocola, leer, jammy.
