  • The personification of elegance and grace, brimming with floral and cherry aromas. This is in a perfect spot right now, and is a stunning value. Soft and refined, with a good dose of acidity and little to no tannin remaining, this shows pretty plum, berry and loam aromas. With extended air, it became a bit acidic and shrill, so I wouldn't decant, but it drinks beautifully as a pop-and-pour.

  • Surprisingly clean and fresh for a 37 year old bottle. Soft, right bank character. Tannins gone. Violets, mushrooms, and graphite. Lovely.

  • Wednesday night at ES BK. Tasted blind.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of old leather, earth, black plums, green herbs, and slight animal barnyard scents. Developed.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium- alcohol (12%), coarse powdery high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of cedar, leather, earth, black plums, black cherries. Long finish.
Very good quality. Classic aged Left Bank Bordeaux. I was guessing 90s! I don't really like the coarse tannins here, but I just have to give an extra point for the sheer longevity of the fantastic 1982 vintage.

  • Pnp with steak at home. Not the best bottle with a high to top shoulder fill and a completely soaked cork. Very nice garnet color in the glass with only the slightest browning towards the rim. Dark berries, sous bois, a touch of wood spices, good acidity makes the wine taste incredibly fresh. On the palate this is dry and very classic without any excessive sweet- or ripeness but it also does not have (yet?) the usual softness of an old wine. Short to medium finish. Easily holds up for the 1.5h until the wine is gone.
Very nice and classic Bdx, the exceptional vintage allows this still to shine at 35 years of age.

  • Another reason to celebrate 1982 Left Bank Bordeaux . Power, and restraint, complex secondary nose, sublime palate, so intense, leather, savoury, tannins now powdery, and nowhere near the end. Wonderful now , but alas my last bottle.
