  • Very nice Barolo that could keep for another 10 years.

  • My heart sank as I drew the cork and smelt a whiff of TCA before double-decanting. Not instantly recognisable, initially, I tasted plums and prunes, spice and a hint of tar supported with ripe tannins. Soft rich and creamy, yet with plenty of lift and a very profound lingering finish.
Very quickly the taint took hold marring the bouquet and leaving a bitter taint on the back end of my palate. I therefore took the decision to substitute it with another Barolo, but alas it was my only bottle from this producer and vintage.
I later served a sample wine at the end of the meal to my dinner guests by which time the cork taint had really kicked in, fully justifying my decision to discard it. Based on my initial mouthful, I would have scored this at 94 points but regrettably it was faulty.

  • (Blind tasting)
A bit mute nose. Dark fruit, cherry and violets. Youthful. Crushed stone and hints of perfume. Quite pure.
Youthful, very tannic, but also fruity palate. Cherry, violets, some perfume and a lovely clove hint. Dense, balanced, but with a bit dry, tart finish. Will benfit from 5-10 more yrs.

  • Vacation at last! 30 degrees Celsius makes you yearn for cold beer and a brainfreeze! But I chose a steak, a mushroom risotto, harico verts and garlic butter instead. And a barolo served at 18 degrees Celsius.
Not a bad choice, but I expected more from this bottle. Lots of tar, some coffee and a whiff of roses on the nose. Tart blackberries and dark cherry on the palate. More than mediumbodied, with good acidity, structuring tannins and a lingering finish this is a good wine, but with a poor qpr. Will last for a long time and hopefully get better.

  • Very nice nose. A bit tight and thin in the mid pallet and finish. Saved some for the next day and it stayed pretty much the same. Have more of these so hope this was just an off bottle.
