Dark garnet in color, this wine shows intense chocolate covered cherry, tar, leather and raspberry on the nose. The mouth feel brought high acidity, subtle tannins and hints of smoke and fruitcake. The finish had good lift and brought out the cherry and raspberry elements.
Purchased for $23US, this is a very well made, excellent example of Barbera from the region. It is drinking very well now. The first two glasses were the best as the flavors diminished noticeably over the 90 minutes the bottle was open. 14% abv.
Imported by Portovino, Buffalo, NY.

James Q Wine Dinner (No Menu Boon Tat Street Singapore): A good opener for the an evening of tasting. Not stunning but has consistent flavours of ripe fruit, chocolate, coal, leather, tar. Its like a tune up of the palette before moving to the main attractions.

It tastes like plum, fig, nutmeg, black currant (cassis) and clove.
