  • I have always held these wines in high regard but for a 35 year old bottle at this price level to deliver this much complexity and pleasure is just making others look bad...
We are well into the tertiary aromas as expected but you can still find some over-ripe fruit here. Overall, the wine is dominated by intense earthy aromas suggestive of volcanic soil as well as heavy floral elements.
The texture is beautiful with soft velvety tannins and considerable length.
Are these wines still made the same way or is this a dinosaur??
    Just amazing!

  • 100% Negroamaro - certainly the oldest one I’ve had. Stewed red and dark fruits. A lot of mushroom/leather notes. Generally tastes “old” and I wouldn’t age it any longer - but it's amazing it's held up even like this. The vines that made this have since been ripped out and replanted.

  • Remarkably delicious. Notes of raisins, sundried tomatoes, cinnamon, leather and tobacco. Very much alive at age 24!

  • With Kathy and Miranda at home at dinner (burgers). Fine medium dark ruby color. No sign of age. Fine nose; light, roasted fruit. Flavors are soft, yet the wine is rich and has a decent body. Definite roast coffee bean. Flavorful. Good for the price – but among the best in the world at the price of $6.88? If so, that's not saying much. 5-9-15-6: 85/100.
