  • This wine surprised me -- based on the reviews, I was expecting an over-the-hill dud, but we found this wine still dark with a vibrant nose and a full, rich taste. Drank it with salad Niçoise and it worked perfectly, even standing up to the dressing. Smooth tannins but still lots of life left. A well-cellared bottle will live on for 2-3 years at its peak and survive for 5+. But it's pretty good now.

  • Nat cork. A dull plummy colored red with brown glints. Nice nose of earth and strawberries, sweet and fragrant, slight, pleasant hint of vanilla underneath. Med bodied and silky on the palate with notes of cherry. Finishes with a hint of bacon. Prob has just peaked - its not getting better from here i suspect but if youve got any you havent missed it, so drink up.

  • We cannot say enough great things about Fiddlehead Cellars and Kathy Joseph! She has these pinot down to a science, and they never disappoint! And at 6 years old, what an absolute treat! This was pulled out of the cellar and popped and poured at cellar temp tonight at Oliver - A Bistro. Gorgeous color once again in the glass, with a huge nose of cherry, cola, blackberry, and the slightest hint of spice. You can smell the Santa Rita Hills soil along with the Pommard and Dijon clones. Love that SRH smell! Typical SRH soil on the palate as well...tons of candied cherry, black cherry, a hint of blueberry, vanilla and caramel make this wine an absolute treat. I could go on and on about these wines all night, and vintage after vintage, they are wonderful. Kudos to Fiddlehead. 91 points! Cheers! http://jerseyfoodies.blogspot.com/2008/06/2002-fiddlehead-cellars-pinot-noir.html

  • Popped and poured. Initially closed. I think this needed some more time in cellar, as it had all of the components of a great pinot but failed to open up completely in the hour that we consumed this. Earth, slight funk, dark fruits and a slightly spicy finish. Smooth finish and overall very good to me, but not a fruit bomb like some people like. Give this one time or decant before drinking.
