  • Opens with an intense and enticing Vosne-like five-spice aroma that had me wondering if I had grabbed the Boudots by accident. It's followed by succulent pitch-black toned fruit that initially has pleasantly more sucrosity than I expect to get out of the vintage at this point, although with time in the glass it sort of crawls back into its shell instead of opening up. That ends the Vosne/Boudots impression and instead leaves typical Nuits in the old style, quite firm and boxy.

  • Poured a glass a few hours b4 serving then decanted for about half an hour & drank over another hour or so...Pleasant if slightly subdued nose, nice purity of flavour, elegant, but rather stern. Not showing anything of the tertiary complexity of the lovely 2002. Not at all bad, but still rather disappointing - esp. as these now go for the best part of 100 quid. I think the drink dates here are correct & wish I had checked & paid attention b4 opening this. If I had another bottle, I would definitely leave it alone for a while yet....suspect this will be much (much) better in 5 years

  • This probably suffered from being served alongside a beautifully voluptuous 2008 Meo Boudots; somewhat angular and herbal. Not a lot of charm, but not at all bad.

  • Stunning wine. Very appealing nose with ripe fruit, forest moss and some earthy notes. On the palate a nice grip, dark berries, a hint of cedar and cherry toward the end and a nice long finish. Although the vintage ´08 is not among the greatest in burgundy, still I have met quite a few good wines from this year now. This surely being one of them. (I see from my previous note on this wine, that I wanted to keep the last bottle for another 10 years. Well it´s gone now and I think it was best to drink now and not in 10 years’ time). 93-94P

  • On the first day, right after opening, it was all closed. Great nose but on the palate not much to give. On the seconded day (pumped out the air in the bottle and put it back in the cellar overnight) it was a much more generous experience. The nose almost hypnotic with a great complexity of dark berries, forest moss and some minerality notes. Very excellent nose! On the palate more one-stringed fruit but still in a high level. Somewhat high acidity (typical for vintage ´08 I think). A long finish that adds oak, cedar and tobacco. As always, a great wine from Etienne Grivot. A great man, making great wines. Will be exiting to follow the domain the next decade as his daughter Mathilde is taking over right now. (I have one more bottle of the Les Pruliers´08 in the cellar – will keep it there for another 10 years) 93-95P
