I "acquired" about 8 bottles of miscellaneous Storybook wines when I was one of three friends who split a private cellar. I didn't want it, but it was left unclaimed after we drafted most everything else, so home it came. Of the several I've opened, this is the best, and truth be told, it's a treat to find it drinkable at age 11, even if the label says it's one of the world's great wines (!) The nose is somewhat syrah-like, a blend of deep black fruits, alcohol, some smoked meat, and an unfamiliar almost bubble-gum like note that lurks within. It's certainly mature, but not evolving in what I would describe as any kind of classical arc. With a little bit of air, the palate is dominated by the 14.5% alcohol, which overcomes the fruit and other more complex flavors leaving a distinctly hot and not altogether pleasant finish, also marred by a seeming lack of acidity. People who like this wine are just on a different trajectory of appreciation than I am, which isn't to say that I think they're wrong.

Mmmmmmm! On opening the bottle the first flavors are amazing blackberries and strawberries. All the oak is integrated. If you still have this in the cellar you should be drinking it. It will probably hold, but it can't get much better than this.
