Likely past its prime, or perhaps a victim of less than ideal storage. Hard to be sure as I've only had one other Lazy Creek gewurtz (a different vintage), and it was consumed much earlier in its life. Full gold color, somewhat typical spicy/tropical gewurtz nose. Medium- to full-bodied with spiced apple, peach, and caramel notes. Fully dry, with a crisp medium finish. Probably would be better with food, but served as an unoffensive quaffer on a 95 degree night.

Wonderfully fragrant nose of lychee, quince and succulent Bartlett pear. Unctuous and weighty on the palate and loaded with flavors that echo the nose.

A Sunday on LI with Diane and the "Gang" (diane's house): at the start it was very weird and the bitterness was too strong, but with time the wine settled down and started showing more. still rather cloudy, gold colored liquid, the nose of cooked apples, spices and fruit cocktail. about VT weight, the bitterness receded with time, some rs on the finish. Interesting wine - but hard to rate for me. Awkward stage?

My system (nose mouth finish) /++, showing some age now, not sure how much longer I would hold it as it is drinking quite well now.
