Drinkable, but well past its prime, the wine focuses on spices, earth and tobacco, with glimpses of red fruits found now and again. Medium-bodied, bright and with an earthy finish, this is not a wine to hold as it is probaby decades past its prime.

There are almost no words to describe the euphoria created by this wine. In outstanding condition, medium orange-y red, full and heady tertiary notes of leather, old books and granite-like minerality blended with cherry pie. Absolutely remarkable.

Has some nutty and cheesy aldehyde things on the nose but with air it breathes up nicely. There's a whiff of spruce, some smoke, plenty of earth, raisin fruits and rosewater. The palate has a core of something vinous and sweet. There are earth, leather and compost savoury notes to counter. Tannins are resolved and length good.

Drank at Beaugraviere, Summer 2016. A beautiful looking bottle from superb provenance. Wonderfully elegant. Sous bois, cherries and strawberries still showing on the nose. Needed an hour to really blossom but by then the bottle was almost gone. A great bottle much in contrast with today's monsters.

Fully intact. Impressively fresh and snappy for a 53-year old wine. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
