This one was hard to make out. First time ever trying it. Incredibly unique. I could smell this all day long - lots of fruitcake, jams, black fruits, some lacquer and more fruitcake. Its really a unique and different nose, one which I really enjoyed. On the palate however this was harsh and unforgiving. At the same time impenetrable and palate crushing with seemingly 20% alcohol and an astringency. Quite port-like but also had a harshness that was more grappa like. Fun to try but not my thing.

Other than Port, I have never experienced anything like this in wine. The nose is black lacquer and inky varnish. Liquorice and fennel. Have never had one of these and am finding it quite bizarre. Hard to believe this is a. correct, and b. 31-years-old.

over the last few days with carrie to celebrate our 1st year wedding anniversary.
Nose of anis, licorice and ripe cherries. the palate was focused and very pure, nuanced and wildly complex. the flavors evolved with every sip. Extraordinary finish that goes on and on, lingering in the mouth for what seemed like hours. decriptors here would really do no justice, certainly one of the most memorable wines i've ever tasted.
