Very perfumed nose, pot-pouri, cherry skin, slight Gevrey spice although it's Vougeot; med bod, a bit acidic as would be expected from an 08; Med+ finish, good mid-palate but not a heavy hitter. Nice, not great. Alice b-day party

Tasty, but much less developed and ready than a bottle drunk a year ago. Will hold my last bottle a few more years. I paid $40 for this; it looks like current vintages are nearly $200. No.

Yes, it will open after a 30-45 minute decant, but I would not hold these. Opens with a tawny color that suggests a well-aged bottle, but then opens later to a more crimson hue. The nose begins with a sour, almost stinky tone, but again with time it devolves into a plum- led purplish/ red fruit aroma. The wine can develop some viscosity and a palate of a blend of dark red berries, plum and wet oak. Decent doors, but not a great wine.

I love a deep, rich Clos de Vougeot and this is not that. But it is an early drinking, somewhat medium- bodied articulation of the region. Oddly tawny colored at the edges as if much older, and the paler red color follows through in the lack of a heavier corps. After 30 minutes in the decanter, a nice center dark fruit driven palate, with some mild herbaceous notes but generally pleasant rich dark cherry/ raspberry mellow tones. Do drink now.

Very fruity, cherry cough syrup, almost sweet and sour sauce; a bit heavy handed with elevated acidity (vintage). With duck confit. S&L&Q
