I remain a bit skeptical of Jadot because they come out the shoot pretty amped up on oak and some cuvees never overcome it but, tonight's bottle was stellar! I think it even arrived with a raised cork. LOL! I attribute this fantastic btl of Jadot Burg to 3 three things.... 1.) the 08 vintage which can deliver killer Burgundy typacity & character, 2.) the vineyard and 3.) most of all to Lonny's always great karma. Lonny never seems to have a travel issue or bad day so why would he have one of those all too frequent "so so"Jadots??? This rocked tonight. 93+

A Mostly Grand Cru French Night at Heirloom (Heirloom, St.Paul, MN): Dark red color. PNP, drank 1 glass over 75 minutes. Lots going on here, very appealing. High toned spice nose with dank basement - in a good way, sous bois, tar, smoke, crushed spices, iodine, oak, cherry, currants. The palate is medium plus bodied with nice minerality, iodine, crushed cherries, dark red fruits, tar, smoke, earth, great spice, long with some firm tannins. This is starting to drink very well and should reward further cellaring. loved it. 93+ to 94pts.

The Verticals at La Paulee de San Francisco (Westin St. Francis - San Francisco CA): Subtle lean red fruit on nose with good spice. Very similar on palate, highlighted by energizing acidity and silky tannins. Not a blockbuster Clos de la Roche, rather one that emphasizes textures and finesse.
