Dinner was spaghetti and meatballs, and there is little better to have with this than a nice Barbera. The first bottle I grabbed of this wine was heinously corked, so I decided to grab my last bottle. This one was reticent but clearly sound with notes of dark chocolate, cranberry and shoe leather. Dark, smooth, and suave; this is a very polished style of Barbera. Very vibrant and acidic. I think this is slightly past peak with the fruit expression starting to fade, so it's time to drink up.

This has rounded out very well over the past 18 months, and it is time to drink up. Lots of dark chocolate with a hint of shoe leather. The palate is very smooth and suave with subtle flavors of chalk and VA that are drowned in dark berries and bitter chocolate. This is a very compelling and varietally correct Barbera.

Fantastic example of Barbera. Dark, smoky, earthy.

Berries and dark chocolate, thick and chewy, hints of earthy and leather, acidic with some tannin but not harsh. Very nice.
