Community Tasting Notes (11) Median Score: 89 points

  • Light color featuring notes of rose hips, cherries and Asian spices. Flavors of cherries, tea leaves and spice with a medium+ finish. Nicely balanced and at its peak, drink now.

  • Tasted at a party; informal note. From magnum, decanted briefly off its sediment and rebottled for travel. Upon decanting this showed some red fruit and earth. At the the party, I wondered if it was perhaps slightly corked- no fruit and a slightly "sharp" quality on the bouquet with some generic red fruit nuances on the palate. By the end of the night it had come around a bit, showing some dark fruit and earth notes, but still, this should have shown better I think. Perhaps I needed to give it much more time in a decanter, or perhaps it was flawed.

  • Generously brought in magnum by Allred. Tis was not corked, but seemed to be suffering from VA with a perplexing acidity. It was either flawed or dead, and we couldn't decide which.

  • Not totally oth but not drinkable for me. More chemical than fruit. Did not drink it. Color was still fine.

  • One of the ages, and perhaps among the top 3 most compelling American pinot noirs I've ever had. It was all there...the bloody meat, the forest dirt, the mushrooms, the concentrated black and red cherries, something varguely fecal, and a nice layer of cinnamon and clove to top it off. And power; this wine did not fade over the course of many many hours it was in the glass. I may have had an extraordinary bottle because it seemed this one could go for some more years...and my fading eyes detected little to no bricking. Having said that, why wait? If you have this, set a special occasion and drink it with a discerning group.
