  • Light red only slight browning on the rim. A bit medicinal rather dried out on opening

Blossomed with air - dried red fruits a touch of vanilla and spice

  • Light colour and thin. Tawny rim. Splash decanted and at first just sweet and pepper on the nose. With air a sherbert fountain aroma combined with an earthiness joined a cherry sour note. All quite subdued. In the mouth, tannins reminded me of the sherbert again, drying, powdery, this alongside the bold acidity gave the wine a thin, mean mouthfeel. However, again with time the wine opened out. The fruit asserted its presence and sweetness arrived. On the exhale we had earthy, smokey and veg notes. Never more than light/mid weight, this seemed to become more harmonious and complex with time in the jug and glass. Worried that the fruit's not going to hold out but other commentators on later vintages suggest this should last to the 10 year mark (or is 08 a poor year?).
