Rather light red, almost pinky edge. Light nose of crushed strawberries which is quite nice, if lightish, but then at first quite 'funky' which made me wonder about a bit of brett in there. Unfortunately after a few minutes this got worse and took over and reminded me of 2004 pyrazines (the green meanies) sort of green, hard chemical taste. this unpleasant finish dominated so I opened something nicer to drink. Very disappointing. Doubt it will get better either.

Burgundy 2011 Day 5: Visit to Domaine Newman (Beaune, Burgundy): A step down from the Pommard VV somehow, but nevertheless a decent wine. Nose was very Beaune, with earthy notes of dried soil and mushrooms married to a little dose of dark fruit. The palate took on the same tone. Soft and silky, it showed flavours of dark cherries and berries braced by nice acidity, lots of florals and a soft, plush finish. Delicious forward drinking wine with a nice fresh ring to it. Nothing special, but you could do worse than this over a nice meal.

Like most of their beaunes this is good drinking simple wine. Nothing spectacular but decent enough.
