An incredible balance between power and grace. Deep blackberry/blueberry fruit that dances gracefully across the palate with a hint of violets (Cote-Rotie?). Give this wine some time in your mouth and the secondary flavours explode at the end. Dark chocolate, cinnamon, tobacco, and spice. Perhaps a tiny hint of white pepper. A big and bold version of a Northern Rhone star.

Seems to be at its peak. No signs of age and perfectly balanced. Nice nose, rich body and mouthfeel, and a very nice finish. However, there was nothing to identify it as a Syrah - no pepper, no grilled meat, no minerals. It was delicious, but lacking in complexity and varietal characteristics.

Better than I remembered from a 2011 tasting. Huge nose - dark fruits and raw beef. Blueberries on the palate, along with beef and hints of various herbs. Very big and rich, with humongous fruit. Medium body, with a good (not great) fruit-driven finish. Still pretty wild and woolly, I suspect it will improve with another two or three years in the bottle.

Opened several hours before drinking. Very nice fruit and smooth on palate after decanting. Kamen gets Syrah right. Small batch but will continue to buy when available.

Dark, brooding complex full bodied. Will probably even get better with some aging
