The dark plum color suggested a wine of youth and concentration, and it didn't disappoint. A revelation; everything and more that one could expect from a 15-year-old Barbera, or from any wine for that matter. Layer upon layer of complexity. Pencil lead, clove, black fruits, cassis, prunes, and the slightest hint of something medicinal. The palate was full and rich, wrapped in perfectly balanced tannins and acid. A stand-out wine in a year of great wines. Rated 2 on a scale of -1 to 3.

Decent wine. Was definitely obvious that at one point in time this was a rich, powerful, and well structured style of Barbera. This however was a little past its prime, but still showed some nice structure and finesse.
