  • Strong blackcurrant flavours with some riper blueberry and rich chocolate.

The '08 Coppermine Rd has been a very inconsistent wine in my experience but this bottle is excellent.

  • Similar to Praxis' comment, there was initially something unpleasant and reminiscent of TCA despite the screwcap, I guess a different bacteria? But after ignoring the wine for ~4hrs whatever had been wrong had blown off (not decanted per se, but bottle left open with a glass poured to make room for air).

Fruit receding but still some ripe blackberry and slightly stewed plum, though the dominant character for me was a rich chocolate/mocha with some sweet oak vanilla behind it. Powdery tannins and acidity holding everything together.

So initially disappointing but actually very good after the long wait.

  • Dark and glass-staining reddish black in appearance is somewhat reminiscent of slightly diluted blood. The nose of this 11 year-old Aussie Cabernet Sauvignon is quite restrained with notes of thick stewed fruits, cooked meat and a bit of greenishness. The palate is rich, unctuous, medium full-bodied with flavors of rich but mildly savory red and blue fruits, meat, spices, and soil towards the finish. I think this is an off bottle despite the screw cap?, if not it is certainly drinking at the latter end of its drinking window.

  • Good structure and balance with fine tannins and integrated acidity. Blackcurrant, cloves, tobacco on the palate. This still has room to improve, though is fine drinking right now.

  • 3 hr decant, Black fruit, quite oaky vanilla and slight coconut, some tannin to resolve, quite high acid for an Aussie wine, good concentration and long savory finish, expect quite a bit of upside from here, 91-94
