First taste on the palate comes across like plum jam, tannins are still there but barely, starting to fade, maybe another year left but this is clearly past its prime. Still very drinkable but not for much longer.

Vibrant ruby black - surprisingly youthful - cellared at 55 since acquisition - pleasantly surmaturite nose reveals self at cork pull then amplifies in glass - cherry plum aromas and flavors remain fresh and focused as tart acid framework buoys this porty cab more than tannins. Concentrated jammy. Certainly not everyone’s cup of tea but admirable nonetheless. Reminded me of Waiheke’s nice bdx varietal expression.

Delicious! Blackberries, plums, leather and tobacco in the nose. Rich fruit in the flavor with black cherries and currants. A well balanced wine with nice complexity and a long smooth finish.

During a CabSav blind tasting. Expressive nose of plum, coffee, dark fruit, spices, some eucalyptus and medicinal notes. This has superb aromatic complexity despite the obvious ripeness. Full bodied palate with soft tannins, good structure and enough acidity to carry the fruit. Not Bordeaux for sure, I guess high quality Napa. Australia it was. Greenock Creek, well known, to connoisseurs, is for me one of the top 5 wine producers of Australia. BTW, their Shiraz are superb as well and won't break the bank like Grange and HoG.

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind Australian Wine (Chevalier Fine Wines - Chicago IL): Double blind in Australian tasting. Ripe and fun black fruit, but not particularly distinctively Cabernet.
