  Very dark, inky color. Nose of cassis, blueberry, cinnamon, roasted meat. Dense and rich on the palate but enough acidity. Not a big Barossa fan but this producer always delivers.

  Palate: on opening, it was very linear and the acidity was very much to the fore. This needed some air. It's five years old, but it's got a long life ahead of it. It's just starting out. With air you get juniper and blueberry, perhaps a touch of cassis, gooseberry and capsicum, nightshade leaf, lavender and mint. There's pomegranate juice there too. This is pretty elegant and medium bodied by Greenock Creek standards -- it's only 13,5% alcohol. The acidity is berry-like, linear, and to the fore. Tannins are very very smooth and subtle, just hiding in the background. Very elegant and subtle, but full of flavour. It needs thought and patience to appreciate, or you'll just see the acidity, but it's good. Give it time and a good meal.

  Tasting at Greenock Creek (Greenock Creek Winery): Olives, tapenade, bell peppers, some unripe tanins but overall a nice wine.
