The wine has improved and is indeed a top wine - we had a tasting 1997 and 1999 - and both wine are great - and there is not a lot of difference - 99 is the winner - but close it is 95 and 94. Compared to my last bottle in 2016 everything has improved - you have an amazing balance - the wine is kissing you mouth so smooth and elegant - and the comparison 1997 and 1999 its clearly the balance that 1999 is winning on. Tannins and acidity are both medium - but also on tannins they are just better integrated in 1999 than in 1997 (still great also hear. This is a great Salvioni that shows you how good this wine is - happy to increase my rating to solid 95.

Pristine bottle, fifth from a half case. Bottle No. 4,234 from 9,850 produced. Decanted for two hours. Closer to my 2015 tasting note than to my 2018 note, but more open and expressive immediately after opening than either bottle. Lots of sweet cherries and currants, leather and cedar, firm tannic grip, freshness and minerality, concentrated but elegant, still with lots of power and energy, not the ultimate in precision or finesse, but with real drive and length.

Stunning. Beautiful and balanced on pop-and-pour. Well-integrated tannins. Limited dark fruit, but minerals and leather to spare. After a couple hours, it exploded in a bouquet of violets.

Brunello perfection. Tannins perfectly integrated. Tertiary elements settling in nicely. Beautiful nose and long finish. The only regret is not having any more bottles and the prices.

A private dinner (Scharzhof, Wiltingen, Germany): A powerhouse, huge tannic structure, big and ripe, excellent typicity, still youthful, an iron fist in a velvet glove.
