From a magnum. Incredibly impressive. I've had other vintages of L'Ermitage and this one was the best yet - perhaps due to its age and the way it developed being in magnum format.

I got a good dose of baked apple and a little caramel on the nose with a little nuttiness and yeast; creamy, powerful, and a long tangy-citrusy finish. Aging very nicely.

Slightly oxidized but impressive none the less. Very different from Champagne and other CA sparkling wines. Really nice green apple and sweet rich mousse, but very little bread or toast on the finish, it was more creamy/minerally.

PTA Wine Tasting; 6/14/2008-6/15/2008 (Our House - Minnesota): Probably the best sparkler of the evening, and a flat-out steal @ $43/mag. Medium-bodied, somewhat toasty. A good middle-of-the-road style suitable for either drinking by itself or with food.
