Bought this after a Schild tasting a few month ago. The 2003 Schild Merlot is a very good example of a serious Merlot from Oz. No doubt, this comes from Australia with new world and big fruit flavors on the nose and on the palate, but these flavors fit perfect together in a round and lush texture. The alcohol (14.5%) is well integrated and blackberry, black raspberry and licorice filled my mouth with gorgeous waves of fruit. On the finish hints of vanilla come across. All in all this is serious stuff.90-91 pts

Divine Magazine - “Merlot Mayhem” (Royal Automobile Club, Sydney): Suffered from overt sweet characteristics. Would show much better with a bit of balance.
