Burgundy WIMPS October 2023 (La Trompette): Over ripe plum but with a little tangy lift, and some witch hazel. Excellent palate - great intensity of sapid fruit. Really juicy long finish. Really really good - sort of wine that convinces me that red burgundy is worth the hassle.

This is drinking beautifully right now. Opened 2 hours before tasting A very classy Burgundy with lovely nose plenty of complexity and good length. Really very good and I would guess has the potential to continue to impress for a good few years

Tasted over 2 hrs -med dark red ruddy purple -lovely ripe plum licorice faint mature notes intermingled with dusty oak spice -med acidity, med weight ripe plummy dark fruits starting to turn the corner into maturity paired with some earthy saline cocoa, supple med tannins -right on the edge of full maturity this should drink well for another 5+ years, well-balanced, a very nice '09

Another great bottle of this wine. As before, it has a lovely nose of blue violets that hits you when you put your nose in the glass. It has a mature orange rim and light red color to it. But on the palate, it is a very nice burgundy with lots of dark red fruits, including big cherries, plums, spice, good minerality and a medium finish.

Perfectly stored bottle. Just out of Octavian having bought en primeur. Strong bricking to rim. Fully mature nose with darker fruits and undergrowth and some spice. Broad palate that is delightful at the front end but goes through a little heat before a finish that has a tiny touch of toffee. Deeply enjoyable. Perhaps more échezeaux in character than Nuits. Full but far from rugged or four square. I will drink the next 4 with good friends in the near term because now might be it’s peak. But will keep one for a decade for interest.
