Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Dinner at l'Artusi 2/23/2012 (West Village): Perfect blood, barest bricking. Hugely gutty nose, viscera, massively virile, sexy crotch, iron/blood; in a word: epic! Licorice, dust, saline, kelp washed up on the beach; holy shit! Later, FULL of baking spices, oh my, just take me away, papa... At the end of the night, pure, powdered, milky mocha chocolate. Heaven. Palate chalky and dense, decaying cherry, v v dry; fullish body, really impressive. A touch short, but this is not meant as a complaint or viewed as a flaw. Wonderful wine. (My bottle, upper-shoulder fill and popped-decanted-poured as a condition-precaution; it could have used a 1/2-hour open before drinking because the wine really improved in the glass.)
