Wow. I mean this bottle was firing on all cylinders. Yes, 1998 is a vastly underrated vintage for Montalcino, and yes, Lisini is perhaps Montalcino's most consistent and reliable producer, but this bottle was just drinking perfectly. Tons of terroir, great structure. Drinking perfectly now, but I'd also feel totally comfortable leaving these in a cool cellar until 2025.

Annual holiday event (Columbus, OH): VA and caramel nose - not right. More acceptable palate with characteristic BdM structure but older, tawny fruit. Not a representative bottle.

Tart, dusty black cherry notes, slate, and animal fur. Seemingly lighter in flavor than previous bottles but provides good drinking, albeit with a firmly tannic grip and relatively high acidity. Not lacking in character and quite nice with dinner.

tasted after about 45 min decanting, was better after another 30 min. Very nice, elegant, good fruit. Coffee notes
