High/Low Blind Tasting III (Amy and Scott's house): Purchased within the last few months from Costco, splash decanted, drank a small pour over 30 minutes. Deep, rich, earthy, some minerality, leather, warm spice. I was quite impressed with this wine. Served blind alongside a $15 chianti, 9 out of 11 people preferred this wine.

High/Low Blind Tasting III (Eagan, MN): High Low Tasting: An excellent showing and this wine still has plenty of years of enjoyment ahead. Old School with leather, funk, tar, spice, dried flowers, raspberries and earth. Medium plus finish. My second favorite wine of the night. 94-96.

Early in its life but open for business, beautiful wine, great feel on palate, great length. Enjoyed after a 95 Pichon Lalande sort of fell flat for us at La Sirena, Palm Beach’s best Italian restaurant for decades.

This wine is definitely sangiovese, start to finish. Drinking it for some reason reminded me of a recent search for mirrors as part of a bathroom remodel. There were cheap mirrors and more expensive mirrors - some incredibly expensive. What's the difference? The expensive mirrors used purer glass manufactured to finer tolerances, better silver with a finer surface. The result being better mirrors can produce stunningly better and clearer reflections, if you really look. To me, that is what this Flaccionello did to Sangiovese, produced a stunningly clear, brilliant and elevated representation of the grape. From the nose to first taste, then to the middle and end it was a delicious consistent note that hinted of sour cherries, leather, mushrooms and dried leaves. A beautiful wine. As for presentation, I opened about an hour before drinking and that was enough. The wine is in its window, do not hesitate to drink, but I suspect it will be fine if it sleeps for a few more years. Purchased at Costco of all places. I was watching for months and when they were put on death star closeout in Nov 2023 (look for the asterisk) purchased three for $110 each. Very happy to have two more. Served with a delicious smoked leg of lamb for Christmas Eve dinner, not sure that is the best combination. It sort of worked but it did feel a little like watching NASCAR in a tuxedo. Now having tasted the wine, my dream pairing for it would be something along the lines of an angolotti de plin in brown butter - something that has the elegance to match the wine. Calling it a 95 on a hard scale.

Great tuscan red, in a perfect spot. We all liked it so much. Wonderful balance of power, fruit, age notes. Will need to buy more! Long life ahead
