'Aged Aussies' Dinner (Joseph's Place, Wong Chung Hang, Hong Kong): Served blind alongside the 1999. Very deep gold but looks bright. Crisp nose that belies its colour. Palate is again surprisingly fresh and classic light Chardonnay. Some moderate length and reverberance. Apparently the vintage that decided Denis Horgan to adopt screw cap. This is a cork stoppage. The difference between this and the much better screw cap 1999 was significant.

Stunning. Cork disintegrated but wine was a deep, bright gold colour. Lifted cashew, toast and brioche. Palate at its peak, superb length and flow. A clean acid freshness on finish. Toast, cashew, rolled oats with a creamy palate and light finish. Wow

First the cork broke in half. Then, the first sniff was terrible - damp and oxidized. However, after pouring a glass and letting it breathe for a while it turned out really nice. Toast, nougat, citrus and toffee on the nose. A bit of the fruit certainly gone but still quite complex with noticeable acidity. Some noticeable oak and heat makes this lose a few points in my book. Don't know so much about the history of this bottle, but if others are like this I would drink up.

Last bottle and still holding up. Rich colour and some caramel notes, hasn't deteriorated since last time and still just as gorgeous.
