  • Toll.
Etwas feiner.
    - Sandrone: Hatte sogar noch Frucht. Große Länge.

  • Still drinking very nicely (unlike some other Produttoris that we have from 96 and 99). Opens quickly, complex, good fruit, nice finish, very good structure

  • Dinner at Osteria Langhe (Chicago, IL): 7344 of 11890. This is a cool, crisp nebbiolo. The fruit profile here is gorgeous, with a really crunchy red character. There's some earthiness on the nose, as well as a little bit of floral character. The palate is lithe and light (for a proper Barbaresco) and has a delicate beauty to it. A bit more earth on the palate is made more prominent by fairly coarse tannins. In no danger of decline, this in fact can probably benefit from a little more age.

  • Even, medium ruby-very youthful appearance for 20 year old Nebbiolo. Interesting progression of scents and flavors over 3 hours which I'll try to describe as best as I can. Immediately out of the bottle, a hint of anise and cherry; in the mouth, medium to light weight, strong soil and graphite with a deceptively round entry only to be reined in by very strong finishing acidity mor than tannin. As it sat open, more balsamic tones and dusty cherry fruit with a much drier overall feel. Finally, the fruit and texture perked back up again. With the recently tasted '99 Monprivato in mind, this wine fell far well short of that great bottle but had plenty of interest and elegance. As was the case with the Mascarello wine, it left me with questions about where it was in its trajectory. Regardless of where it might be headed, I enjoyed it most early on when the red fruit, soil, and acidity seemed most ideally balanced.

  • This was really good again, good grip with medium acidity and some prominent velvety tannins, good fruit (red and purple) and med bodied, with some light spices as well... really good and interesting, a contemplative wine that is also easy to enjoy (i.e. not super serious)
