Still, very tasty indeed. |

6/15/2022 - DonDon Likes this wine: 98 pointsWhat an amazing treat to have this wine! It followed a Peter Michael Point Rouge 2016 (95 points). Definitely benefits from a longish decant. Even though it had been double decanted for a couple of hours the first taste was all dark dark dark fruit, but then it opened up beautifully over the next 2 hours. Layers and layers if flavour! Gorgeous mint / eucalyptus profile giving it lift and freshness. Massive fruit power. A complete joy! Agree with someone here that keeping it on the cooler side v important - it was a hot evening so needed to chill it down a touch every so often and it just shined. |

1/1/2022 - cultdrinker wrote: 99 pointsPopped another bottle for New years Eve tapas dinner and served it from a decanter after about an hour (which I recommend). I think this cuvee has gone down in taste since my last report. I no longer give it a perfect rating but believe it is "only" a 99. Yeah. Like I really care with the one point drop. Nor should you. LOL. Remember though to serve it at a temperature that is in the low 60s. Also for those who question the need to decant older wines, take a sip or two (or three or four, if you can cut yourself off at that count) upon popping the cork and I think you will agree that it opens up and shows my character after that one-hour period and was worth the wait. |

6/20/2021 - BBencz Likes this wine: NRDecanted for one hour and consumed over a dinner w grilled NY strips. Lots of herbs, tobacco, and red fruit on the nose. Layer upon layer of fruit and spice, with a long, long finish. Light tannins remain, and this bottle was still very primary. At least 5 more years to go, based on the way this bottle showed. Just stunningly good. |

2/7/2021 - Brolawa Likes this wine: 95 pointsIf you love California cabs, this is as good as it gets. Very Screaming Eagle-esque. Perfume on nose is exquisite with a mix of dark fruit, tabacco and rose petals. This continues onto the palate; but instead of Bordeaux-like earth you get more fruit and sugar. This is where I prefer Bordeaux over CA cabs, but I understand why some worship this wine. Perfect balance. Long finish. 95 would be 98 if I loved this flavor profile. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

9/2/2020 - Quiet Lion Likes this wine: 100 pointsDecanted over cocktails. Pristine bottle. Dense, seamless Cabernet with still-abundant dark fruit and tertiary notes of plum and fig. Firm but light tannins, light and integrated acid, and a very long finish show what a true first-growth Napa wine Harlan is. Other than a bit of browning on the rim this shows no signs of fading. The purity, density, precision, and long finish made this a perfect experience tonight and the perfect sunset in the dying summer of Seattle in this plague year didn't hurt either. 1 person found this helpful, do you? 6/14/2020 - Altonplace wrote: 91 pointsDidn't live up to expectations. Could be too young as tasted hot even after 1.5 hours decanting. Spent a few hours enjoying and heat disappated some but not fully. Rich ruby color with tinge of autumn but not spoiled. Would recommend cellaring a few more years despite color, although it's possible I missed the right window. Hard to tell with this complex a wine. |

3/10/2020 - Jeff Leve wrote: 99 pointsSmoke, blackberry liqueur, blueberries, cassis, spice and toasty oak aromas were all over the place. Powerful, concentrated and intense, this mouth filling wine coats your palate with waves of juicy ripe berries. Like all the bottles from this evening, the Harlan Estate was served blind. I bring this up so that you know, out of a table with 8 people, not one taster mentioned finding VA in the this particular bottle. I am certain some bottles are not clean, but this specific botte was a compelling tasting experience! |
