| Community Tasting Notes (average 90.8 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 18 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Barolo Freak on 2/27/2024 & rated 90 points: The 2017 Inglenook Cabernet is a very not so typical Cali Cab. I popped and I poured, and I sipped a very nice wine. It is not a fruit bomb, nor is it a tannin bomb either. It is medium bodied, and has just the right amount of everything. Cellaring another two years may improve this wine, but it is excellent right now. Is it worth $55 a bottle? Definitely. (883 views) | | Tasted by RPerro on 11/23/2023 & rated 90 points: 2 hour decant; a lighter style of Cabernet, showing less richness and fruit and more acidity. Cherries, black tea, cigar box, a hint of green stemminess. Tannins still kicking pretty hard as well. Will leave my last bottle alone for another couple of years. Drink 2024-2032+. (994 views) | | Tasted by Slambs on 11/18/2023 & rated 90 points: Dry with very little to no berries or tannins. A good selection if you’re looking for a mild mannered Napa that isn’t jammy or berry forward. (944 views) | | Tasted by NoTrollingerPlease on 3/12/2023: A matter of taste 2023 - Day 2: *** Brief notes from wine fair, primarily for my own memory *** Glass: Stölzle Universal Suprisingly elegant and balanced compared to the Stag's leap wines. Fresh, elegant, fine tannin, medium+ acidity, good length. Love this style. 91+ (1968 views) | | Tasted by KAT9 on 9/19/2022 & rated 91 points: On the nose, nice fruit profile with some earthiness and some green. alc at 14% but was burning through on the first few sniffs. On the palate, relatively balance, high acidity, light, alc is much more resolved, tannin is fine. Enjoyable wine. Not your typical Napa cab. (2623 views) | | Tasted by ewats9 on 5/21/2022 & rated 94 points: Great wine. Built to age. Needed to lay down a few more years. Decanted 2 hours. (2095 views) | | Tasted by Icemn21 on 3/19/2022 & rated 89 points: Lacking in depth. Opened up a bit after an hour or so, but expect more at this price point. (2319 views) | | Tasted by Chiefwino59 on 1/8/2022 & rated 87 points: Bright black fruit, medium tannin, like my finish, opens up over time (2433 views) | | Tasted by Allen.T.Snyder on 8/17/2021 & rated 90 points: Here's to Mikey Best! (2286 views) | | Tasted by Ballballsheep on 5/6/2021 & rated 90 points: Got half of bottle from a friend after his Zoom tasting. Black fruit, plum, tobacco, Chinese tea, the aroma is nice and the palate is good. Easy drinking after enough breathing. The downside is the finishing, a bit too short. (1896 views) | | Tasted by BigBoy_Sonoma on 6/13/2020 & rated 93 points: Black fruit, blue fruit, cedar, tobacco, vanilla. A/A- (2418 views) |

| Inglenook Producer websiteCabernet SauvignonCabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.
Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet SauvignonUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Rutherford Rutherford,
