Community Tasting Notes (average 91.2 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 15 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by LBDWine on 2/23/2024: KIS (912 views)
Tasted by fcxj on 12/1/2023 & rated 90 points: Punchy. (1748 views)
Tasted by Irish_Wine on 11/20/2023 & rated 93 points: Lovely nuanced nose with a core of pure pear and peach. Touches of toasty cream and struck flint. A striking wet stone note. Very fresh on the medium bodied palate. Fantastic toasty finish. Worth waiting. Very refined.

WSET Notes:

Pale lemon.

Pronounced on the nose with pear, peach, cream, lemon, struck flint, toast, wet stone and biscuit. Developing.

Pronounced and dry on the palate. High acidity, medium alcohol, medium body, long finish.

Too young. (1437 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 8/25/2023 & rated 91 points: Entry Level Domaine Leflaive Tasting (Chicago Wine - Glenview IL): Walk around tasting. Rich orchard fruit start-to-finish with a broad cross-section on both nose and palate. Well spice with sneaky length. Good already now. (2384 views)
Tasted by Milos on 8/3/2023: Quite closed and hard to enjoy for me today. There is a lot going on but disjointed. Promising future. Will not rate today. (1641 views)
Tasted by The Vines That Bind on 5/25/2023 & rated 92 points: Two bottles. No notes. 92 - 93. clean and precise. Could use a little more reduction. (1892 views)
Tasted by Kim Gerner on 5/1/2023: Florence cholet P-M Enseigneres 2020 tasted against Domaine Leflaive puligny montrachet village also 2020. Cholet is pretty good on the nose but lacking intensity especially on the palate compared to Leflaive and has Bitterness which i do not like, 87+. Leflaive is on another level 91+ (1575 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 3/11/2023: 2020 Leflaive from the Mâcon to Puligny (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Yellow. Perfumed subtle oak with a bit of steeliness. Medium weight, moderate acidity that is higher than in the other wines. Creamy and rich, fruit downplayed, fine persistence, depth, and length, but some finishing bitterness from the wood. Certainly excellent but a village wine trading at more than $250 a bottle makes no sense to me. (1730 views)
Tasted by Richard P Howden on 3/11/2023 & rated 91 points: Dig Wine Leflaive Tasting (Dig Wines, San Francisco.): The most closed of today’s lineup. I can’t rate it any higher because I don’t think it was ‘better’ than the BB, despite vigorous swirling. Similar profile, with a bit more dry extract and density which seemed to promise a brighter future. (1574 views)
Tasted by joshabramson on 12/4/2022 & rated 94 points: High acidity, great tension and precision, aromatic. Still a bit tightly wound, I actually decanted this wine, which helped open it up a bit. Very good, although not any better than I remember the 19' vintage being at this stage (which I also loved) -- will be curious to try this wine again in a year. (1879 views)
Tasted by dcwino on 11/3/2022 & rated 92 points: 2022 Excellent Burgundy Adventure; 10/31/2022-11/6/2022 (Burgundy): Very focused nose displaying yellow citrus fruit with a hint of white, lemon curd, pear, a hint of ginger, sweet spices and limestone. Very good concentration, generous fresh yellow citrus fruit, very precise and linear, bright acidity, strong limestone mineral, and a medium to long generous yellow citrus fruit driven finish. This is a very linear and precise village wine. (2847 views)
Tasted by csimm on 10/27/2022 & rated 92 points: For a village level, this is of course very nice indeed. I will say that I didn't necessarily find anything uniquely compelling that made it stand out over other P-Ms that I've enjoyed in recent history, but the overall balance and purity of fruit here is quite alluring. It's hard to find fault here, but for perhaps the absence of a particular set of identifiers that offer individuality and character to the profile. Yellow lemony goodness with a nice beam of acid to keep the tension up and the freshness on point. Drink or hold. (3220 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
