Tasted by MeMyself&I on 4/5/2011 & rated 90 points: Elegant. Nicely balanced. We didn't feel it was over-oaked as others have. (4364 views)
Tasted by reizoko on 11/1/2010: Way too much oak. The wine is probably pretty tasty, but you'd never know with the oak bullying it around. (4367 views)
Tasted by 2PinotsInAPod on 5/17/2010 & rated 91 points: Great wine. Not as buttery and smooth as the Phalmeyer Chard. But is an excellent wine. Paired well with Carnitas tacos and cheese enchiladas.

Hint of granny smith apple and pineapple. Nice smooth finish. Classic Oak Napa Chard. For the price, would highly recommend. (4648 views)
Tasted by gripNsip on 3/3/2010 & rated 89 points: Had alongside the 07 Napa and Sonoma Coast Chardonnays: Greener melon nose, slightly salty, oak without being buttery. On the palate this is less interesting than the other bottlings but the progression through the palate is quite nice. Medium weight. I like the simpler but more forward approach to the fruit on this wine. My friend pointed out some heat on the finish, it didn't immediately jump out at me but once he said something I could sense it. Nice length on this as well. Overall this was a nice Chardonnay, good balance, fruit and length. (4658 views)
Tasted by subtlet on 3/3/2010 & rated 87 points: Baked apples and some peaches appear on the nose, as well as a little orange peel. The wine is crisp on the palate, delivering red apple flavors similar to the 07 Sonoma Coast. The apple flavors linger, but some heat distracts me from the good stuff. (4550 views)

Pahlmeyer

Producer website

Jayson Pahlmeyer, recently joined by his daughter Cleo Pahlmeyer, have been producing highly sought-after, seductive, hedonistic wines since 1986. Pahlmeyer's flagship wine is the Proprietary Red, a Napa Valley Bordeaux blend. Chardonnay, Merlot and Pinot Noir round out this stunning portfolio. These wines are produced from exceptional mountain vineyards in the Napa Valley and Sonoma Coast, including the Pahlmeyer family’s Waters Ranch (Atlas Peak AVA) and Wayfarer Farm (Fort Ross/Seaview AVA). These vineyards, coupled with winemakers Kale Anderson and Bibiana Gonzalez Rave's passion and talent, turn out wines with power and finesse.

Chardonnay

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

North Coast

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)
